Concept

Cut-off limit — where it appears

The stress range on a detail's S–N curve below which a cycle is taken to do no fatigue damage at all. Cycles under it are deleted from a spectrum rather than counted, so a better detail can move whole classes of vehicle beneath it and change which loads matter, not only how long the detail lasts.

Named by 2 essays across one field — each of them below, with the objects they name alongside it.

Also named here as cycle counting, equivalent range, spectrum — the same set of essays touches all of them, so they are one junction rather than several.

Named alongside it

The objects these essays reach for when they reach for this one.
